This relatively unknown text by one of the greatest psychologists of the 20th century should be required reading for anyone interested in psychology. Boris Sidis was a student of William James (James provides one of the introductions) at Harvard, and one could say that he picked up the discipline where James left off. I seem to recall that Stanley Milgram (of the famous Milgram experiment on authority) referenced this text in his work. Sidis begins with a discussion of hypnotism and suggestion, and then delves into the Self and the subconscious. He ends with an examination of social disease. One might suspect that the discipline of psychology would be far more advanced if it was not sidetracked by Freud, behaviorism, eugenics, metaphysics, and other nonsense- Sidis provides an essential foundation for the science of mind.Product details
